Bathurst is an interesting place for outdoor activities for both young and old. There is much to see and do around the village of Bathurst. Its a safe place for family trips, with many good tarred roads as well as decent dirt roads. Alot of the residents would not agree, but if its dry weather most of the dirt roads can be navigated by bike or a vehicle, a 4×4 would be recommended if you want to explore the commonage or go deep off road. Please be careful of wet weather, the soil is unforgiving and you will get stuck! Have you done the poor mans game drive?
Bathurst has much to offer, take a ramble from the centre of the town visiting all the art studios along the main Kowie Street, or venture further to see many of the historical sites. Below are a several hiking trails that are graded and fairly easy to walk.

Check out this 6.9-km out-and-back trail near Bathurst, Eastern Cape. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for off-road driving, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
