Safety and Security 🔐🚨

Bathurst is generally peaceful, but like any rural area, safety awareness is important. We rely heavily on our private security companies for 24 hour security services. There are currently two security companies offering services in our area:

Multi Security Services: 046 624 2508 / 046 624 3708

Community Safety Tips

  • Join the local Bathurst CPF (Community Policing Forum)
  • Save emergency numbers on your phone
  • Join your local security whatsapp group, each road has one, just ask our local CPF ( Whatsapp Channel )
  • Keep gates secured when away
  • Even if you have an alarm system, you should test it regularly. For over a decade we have had issues with alarms being disabled by intruders, and the home owners are unaware.
  • Get to know your neighbours, its great for security.

Internet Services in Bathurst 🌐

Reliable internet is essential—especially for remote workers and online businesses. Bathurst has had several internet outages in the last few months, (February – March 2026).

Typical internet options in Bathurst include:

  • Fibre (available in parts of the village)
A very new option available in Bathurst central and hopefully be implemented throughout Bathurst in future. The limitations is that the fibre cables keep getting cut/broken.
  • Wireless broadband providers
Herotel/IGEN/Border provides line of site wifi solutions that are the most reliable internet solution. Monthly fees start from R250 for a basic uncapped connection. Its worthwhile checking to see if you have signal as your deposit for installation will be refunded if they cannot get signal.
  • Mobile data (4G/LTE coverage)
MTN, Vodacom, CellC, Telkom and Rain offer the services. Due to theft and tampering of the tower this service has not always been available for several days at a time. There is a  management committee working with stakeholders of the cell tower to improve the security.
  • Satellite internet for rural areas
  • Internet/Security Consultant and Hosting services: Chris 0727536488

Tip:
Ask neighbours which provider works best in your specific street—coverage can vary.
